Accountability is not that hard

Holding people accountable is simple. The only thing that makes it complex is sin. And all it requires is your life, i.e., devotion to God and His church.

Okay, so maybe accountability is not that simple, but I do think we make it harder than it needs to be.

Christian accountability: content and process

Christian accountability involves challenging people to be Christlike and to glorify God. It means urging people to treasure God above all things. And it means calling people to live by the standards of Scripture.

Three things are necessary for accountability:

  1. Receptiveness to one another (letting people into your life).
  2. Asking questions of one another.
  3. Providing truthful answers.

Some texts: Ephesians 4, 2 Tim. 2:22, Gal. 6:1-3

This process can include a mix of fun, humor and seriousness. Then you have growing relationships and accountability.

I like this. More importantly, God approves of this.
